Day 6: I don’t even know where to begin. I have to start with thanking Beto, thanking Antonio, thanking everyone. I don’t think I’d still be alive today if it weren’t for the help of others. And now I have the time to thank them. When I came to, Antonio, Beto and Moonbeam were sitting close to me. I can’t tell you how happy I was to see them! Sandy was laying in the cot next to me. Antonio asked how I was feeling and served me a warmed packaged dinner. TV dinners never tasted so good!
We asked Antonio to stay on if he could. He said his group was about to split up and he’d be happy to stay. Hutch, one of Antonio’s friends is leaving for Trumbull. His other friend Joe, is a wizard with computers and could rewire our command center into something actually useful. Moonbeam’s eyes lit up at this.
Beto gave both Sandy and I Bowie knives. An absolutely lovely get-well gift for our post apocalyptic world. He said there’s been discussion about who should lead our merry band. Time to select a leader. Said everyone comes to me so I should lead. I smiled and told him people only come to me to report what has happened for my journal, not to be given direction. I told him he should be the leader. He has been leading since he joined us, just without the title. Everyone else agreed.

Moonbeam and Antonio left to see if Joe would come take a look at our mess of a command center. Sandy slept most of the day. Heeding Antonio’s advice on taking it easy, I took my M17 apart so many times that I could dismantle and reassemble it in my sleep. Ate so many Organic Bling Bling Puffs that I’m afraid I look like I have jaundice. When the group got back I was so relieved to have something break the boredom. Joe is an incredibly friendly guy with a New Jersey/Canadian type accent that makes me smile. He immediately set to work, right after he raided our kitchen.

With the additions of Antonio and Joe our little home is becoming crowded. Not in an uncomfortable way, but you definitely notice there are a lot of us here. Beto talked about a church on a hill that has a nice watchtower, elevated ground, and is central to town. Antonio talked about Mohr & Mohr Distributing. Said it’s a soundly built structure providing plenty of security, and is in a remote area so hopefully not a lot of zombies. Moonbeam wants to move to the corner office in Lowl. No one agrees with her. Zed Central Station. Joe mentioned Loch and Keogh Self-Storage area close to where their old hangout was.

One thing is for sure, we can’t stay here. Time to move. The zombies are attacking more frequently, with more intensity, and the sieges are lasting longer. They know we’re here.
