Day 19: Everyone was up early which was surprising, considering. When I got up Beto and Fulgencio were having breakfast discussing ways to fortify the base. “We just threw a lot of things together when we got here” Beto was saying as I approached. I grabbed a cup of coffee and joined them.
There were three sleeping bags in the gym with bodies in them. Collin, Eli and Smiley – The Remainders – stayed over from last night’s activities. They must have heard us talking because they woke a few minutes later and said they had big plans for the day. Relocation day. Moving into the Bridge Fort.
Joe walked in and said he’d give them a ride home as he wanted to hit the Swine & Bovine to see if anything was left. Beto said he and Fulgencio were talking about removing the shooting range next to the watchtower. He said we get enough target practice all day long with the zeds outside. With all the new people we either need to move, which he doesn’t want to do, or we need a latrine. I couldn’t agree more as the tiny restroom inside Mohrs’ Distributing is no longer sufficient.
Beto said of course it will come with latrine duty. Ugh.

I heard a squeal from outside and Beto smiled and said Moonbeam must have found her gift. The Fireside Campers brought a cherry red Maximillian to the base with a note of thanks. She came running in asking where Tyler was. I nodded in the direction of the barracks and she was out the door in a flash.

It took longer to tear down the shooting range than it did to set up the latrine. So worth it. This is a great addition to our base!
Trish and Sissy pulled up in the Rhames V. Sissy hopped out and I noticed a minor limp and a major smile. She said Antonio gave her some pain killers yesterday that knocked her out.

Everyone was busy around the base today. Upgrading, fortifying, making out base impenetrable. We made adjustments and improvements to both towers. I helped wherever I could, finding lumber, helping with the latrine, and helping Sandy feed out group. She and I talked about how far we’ve come.
Moonbeam gave me a much lighter crossbow that I’ve been playing with. It’s a neat, quiet weapon. Doesn’t have the range of my MK. Did I mention Beto really hates it when I call my sidearm that? “It’s a MP5K” he says. I say I just shorten it to MK, Mmmmkay? Zeds don’t care.
The day ended quietly without a siege. Not really surprised as we eliminated the blood plague zombies and last night we probably cleared a 10 kilometer radius around the base.
It feels like today everyone just caught a little break.
